Documentary Photography: Who is Robert Law?

December 09, 2020

How’s it going Rob? Thanks for agreeing to speak to me, as usual could you just introduce yourself please?

Hi Math and thanks for inviting me on your blog. I started photography as a teenager with my own darkroom in the 80’s, but have become a more serious documentary photographer over the last 8 years, or so. I’m drawn to documenting both rural and urban environments and the people within them. I’ve had great fun with this and have succeeded in having my work exhibited and published nationally.

Street Photography: Who is Daniele Dainelli?

November 20, 2020

Ciao Daniele! (I hope that's right?). Can you please introduce yourself and explain how you got into photography?

My name is Daniele Dainelli and I am from Florence, Italy. I approached the world of photography in the winter of 2012, when I bought my first reflex camera just for fun, as almost everyone does. Since the first days I have loved to shoot landscapes, but then my focus changed to street photography, and since Florence offers some of the most beautiful settings (and faces) in the world I started to discover the pleasure of wandering in the cities of the world, catching with my eye, every kind of possible beauty.

Documenting Britain: Who is Chloe Juno?

November 08, 2020

From memory, my first interaction with Chloe was a semi conscious phone call above a Brazilian waxing parlour in Brick Lane after drinking with Richard Bram at Street London. I was meant to be going to a rave in Essex with two Hungarian girls. But as fate has it…

Hey Chloe, could you just introduce yourself for those who don’t know who you are?

Math thank you for having me : ) I’m Chloe Juno and I’ve been working with documentary photographers for 15 years. I work independently with photographers as a creative consultant and for the last 5 years I’ve been creating my own work. I direct and curate Documenting Britain on Instagram and have…

Street Photography: Who is Gav Robinson?

October 25, 2020

Obviously I know who you are, but can you just introduce yourself to the good people...

My name is Gavin Robinson and I've been shooting for 6 years.

I first got into photography by shooting landscapes around London. It then progressed to shooting people. I never knew there was a thing called 'Street Photography' until I started posting on Instagram. I have progressed my work into current projects as ‘Speakers Corner’ and ‘Looking Up At Big Ben’.

Five honest tips for beginner street photographers...

October 05, 2020

1 - Fuck rules and what other people tell you.

Don’t listen to the so called avant garde who will try to dictate and shape how you shoot. Shoot from your own heart and not from your head, trust your instincts and it will come through in your photos!

Street Photography Q&A With An A-Level Photography Student

September 30, 2020

Recently I was fortunate enough to put on an exhibition at Volcano Theatre on the High Street in Swansea. This was an ideal venue for me as most of my “better” photographs over the last four years were taken there. I also released a 24 image zine to coincide with this.

An A-Level photography student from Coleg Gwent who was researching street photography bought a copy of my zine and contacted me on Instagram with a few questions, here is the dialogue…
